Have you guys ever had a picture you really liked the outcome, just to discover you got something on the corner that the picture would have looked better without? I know I have, and today I had that again. I really need to learn to pay more attention to the corners of my photos. Even spoke about that about a month ago, yet I keep making the mistake.
Anyways, I just thought that I’d cut it off, which was easier said than done. While cutting it is not hard, it still needs to look good afterwards. And in my picture, no matter how I cut it, I just felt that the original positioning of the trees and sun where much better. I’m sure I tried a zillions of different ways of doing it, none really coming out good enough.
So in the end I just made the part I initially wanted to cut a bit darker so it would stand out less. And here is how it turned out:

I do realize that perhaps my cut version did come out better even if the positioning isn’t as good as the original. Just to give you a guys to compare I thought I’d show you the best cut one too:

So what do you guys think? To me, no matter how in what way I cut it, the original looks better. How about you guys? It’s said that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, so perhaps I’m alone on my opinion.
Although as I went on with this article the blog itself gave me a cut that I couldn’t see myself. A cut that I discovered out of pure luck.

Then the next day I went out again to take some more pictures and do some errands. Then I remembered the cut that the blog had made for me. What if I try to shoot this picture to start with, rather then cutting out a minimal small piece out of another photo? Here is the outcome. And while I do feel that the colors in the cut version above might have been better this one compensates with the pure fact that it is bigger.

So rather then corners that can’t be cut and left at that, it became more about retaking the photo keeping those thing in mind and not giving up for me. It’s important to grasp and never give up on your photos. There are beauty in every aspect of our life and not giving up on finding it I think is important.
But lets not forget, the beauty is in the eyes of the beholder. What I find beautiful might be the opposite to what the next person things. Which is a great thing, since that leaves no human, no scenery, nothing in the world out of being beautiful.

I think i actually prefer the composition of both shots before the crops.
I prefer the cropped composition, but prefer the light balance in the first picture. The definition on the ground is striking and the sun ray is not so blinding. I would even try it even a little less exposed.
Never actually thought about reducing the exposure to make bright photos like these less bright. Something I have to experiment more with.
I prefer both the composition. All the pics are awesome, I thought you are professional photographer.
Wow all these pictures are beautiful. Would you mind telling me what camera you used?
The image would have been awesome with a lens flare.
