Motion Blur – A beautiful way to use shutter speed

When I told you guys back earlier this week I’d show you motion blur I actually only had one kind of motion blur in mind. The kind where you usually see some car or train go by fast and the rest is standing still in front of you. Indeed I’ve gotten that for you.

But here is the deal, when you’re dealing with Motion Blur, there is so much more to it than just a car driving of a corner. I can’t tell you with mere words, but let me show you what I discovered trying a few things with my camera.

Lighting Motion

First is Lighting Motion is I’ve decided to call it. Actually discovered this one by accident when I by mistake dragged the camera with me while I tried to shoot a motion blur picture.

Motion Blur

These are the normal Motion Blur kind of pictures that I had in mind.

Ghost Blur

The last one is probably the most interesting one in a way, and I’d like to call it Ghost Blur. You’ll probably see why.

And that’s about it! I hope you enjoyed my pictures today. And if you did, please leave a comment about it.

The lightning motion is really cool Alexander, I like how you’re always experimenting with different camera options and getting cool results!

  3. Scott says:

I love playing with lighting, a good cityscape with “lines” of traffic moving through it looks great.

  4. Ashton says:

Photography is my passion…great lightening shoots..i love all these..

  5. Dan Lew says:

Nice to see the difference in shots there, I am never good with night time photography :)

  6. Josh says:

I used to love doing this with my old Pentax K1000. I had to use a plunger to lock the shutter open, but you get such interesting images.

Great Photos. Keep trying new things, you never really know what you might get!

  7. Henk says:

I am a keen photograppher and have been trying to do these for years… but I don’t have much to brag about…. I think I will try again, having recently got my hands on a decent Canon 550D

  8. Henk says:

I’ve got to try harder to get shots like this!

  9. Salladin says:

Those are just beautifull photos and i like those night “shaky hand” experiments. Those light trails can look good sometimes even if you didn’t want to make this kind of picture.

    Great examples !
    Well done !
